What to inspect in used cars
ByWell the time of irrational exuberance is now long gone. For quite a few Americans those types of luxuries like new cars are now gone. Now in these times when a family is in need of a new car they have to look into a used car. This is made clear by all of the finacial woes the big three car makers are experiencing. There sales are down.
But most families will still need some sort of transportation. But when families are on a tight budget they have to go with a cheaper choice. That alternative choice is a used car.
As a San Diego auto repair shop owner I am asked to inspect some of these used cars.Because when you have decided to buy that used car, you do not want to purchase a lemon. So by taking the time to perform a good inspection, you may avoid costly repairs.
So when you are looking over these cars remember these couple of items to inspect.First thing you have to check is the brakes. We do San Diego brakes in our shop.So I have seen firsthand that needing your brakes repaired is an expensive option. If you buy an auto that the owners didn’t take care of the brakes, that could lead to very expensive repairs. The last thing you want to have to pay for is an entire braking system. So make sure the brakes are good.
Second you want to make sure it is running clean. In other words can it pass a smog test. In my business I do smog tests in San Diego. The last thing you are going to want is the purchase of a used car that needs some expensive repairs.Especially if the repairs are going to involve any emmission problems.
If you purchase a car that can’t pass a smog test that isn’t good. It is a sign that the car wasn’t taken care of.What probably happened is they didn’t do any tuneups or oil changes. These could lead to more problems in the long run.
If you just check out these few items you can save money. By not checking you can be in for some major repairs. When you need to save money, I am pretty sure you don’t want that.
